Richard A. "Dick" Schuler of Winfield A funeral service for Richard A. "Dick" Schuler, 75, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Community Fellowship Church, 28W240 North Ave., West Chicago. Interment will follow in Bartlett Cemetery. A visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Born Sept. 30, 1932, in Millersburg, Mich., he died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Dick was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where he met his wife Carol, and Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, where he earned a degree in education. He then served with Greater Europe Mission in France for 35 years as a church planter and camp director, retiring in 1999. Thereafter, he was interim pastor at Shadyrest Bible Church in Chesterfield, N.J., spent a couple of years in Chesapeake, Va., before moving to Winfield, to be near family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol (nee Scheid); sisters, Muriel Russell, Marilyn (Larry) Riley and Yvonne (Donald) Baker; children, Rick (Carla) Schuler, Janet (Venkat) Tangirala, Keith (Laura) Schuler, David (Ann) Schuler and Suzie (Thierry) Labbe; grandchildren, Ian and Aubin Schuler, Melody and Donovan Shickley, Anjali Tangirala, Kaylynn and Victoria Schuler, Nikeata Schuler, David, Marie, Priscille, Jessica and Talia Labbe. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Judith Mary Schuler; parents, Lee F. and Marion A. Schuler; brothers, Lloyd, Robert and Barry Schuler; and sister, Deanna Harroun. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to the General Fund at Greater Europe Mission, 18950 Base Camp Road, Monument, CO 80132-8009.
