Shubert obits and more
I don't know if any of this will help--but perhaps you will see a clue in what I share...
I have ancestors who settled first in Luzerne County, PA and then moved to Cudahy and Milwaukee, WI...some include a Schubert/Szubert/Shubert line.
I have a Mary NOWAK in my lines..but she married a John Hilkoske/Hilkowski/Helkowski...wanted to share the rest with you as well, since you are researching in Milwaukee:
Are any of your NOWAK's related to WISNEWSKI's?
Below I will list all the Polish/Slavi Families I am researching...
In addition, I want to share another "clip" from an e-mail I sent to another researcher today:
I just found some new information on my WISNIEWSKI line from Shamokin--maybe you can pick out a clue I am missing in the puzzle?
You once wrote to me, " My husband has Wisniewski in his family line. We still live in the Shamokin/Coal Township area. His great grandfather was Anthony Wisniewski. Several spelling changes were made in the next generation with some spelling it: Vesnefski. I have some mining history material in my library."
In the marriage book was found, under the Index to males getting married: Theodore SZUBERT to Antonia VISNEFSKI...volume 5 page 702 in 1893:
Marriage License #4409, performed by a Justice of the Peace:
Theodore SZUBERT age 29 to Antinina VESNEYSKA age 21(note the difference in spelling in the Index to the marriage...fski..instead of yska
Andrew and Annie (STAZAJA) VESNEFSKA are listed as Antinina's parents
and John and Ludwika SZUBUS..(note..not SZUBERT)..as was listed in the index for Theodore's parents.
Their parents signed the marriage certificate.
This means that my great-grandfather's--father--came to America..I had always though he remained in Poland...Could you please share with me a little more about your WISNIEWSKI line?
I live in Western Washington State..do you live on the East Coast?
If you locate any information on these couples, please let me know.
They are also related to:
