Hello Melissa,
It was good to hear from you.I have a couple questions but since I posted the original post I've found a lot more information.First off, I have found another cousin who is doing genealogy. Her name is Jean, she's descended from your great grandfather George's older brother, Henry.I, of course am descended from George's sister Bertha who was my great grandmother.
Frederick Ludvig Schroeder was born Dec. 12, 1850 in Schwackenwalde, Germany. He left from Stuttgart, Wurttemberg, Germany to New York, USA in 1875.
After arriving in New York, Frederick played the concertina, while John (I am assuming this John was Frederick's brother) sang. In this manner, they were able to earn money to get to Cleveland, Ohio, and finally on to the farm in Blackberry, Ohio near Williston.
The family (Frederick Ludwig's) moved to a 30 acre farm in Limestone, Ohio, after Fred bought land. John (again I believe this to be Frederick's brother and not his son)stayed at home on the original homestead. The family cleared the land, laid drain tiles, and raised crops.
His occupation at some point is listed as Sheppard.
He died Feb. 1, 1897 from a mistaken prescription.
His father was Heinrich Ludwig Wilheim Schroeder and his mother was Luise Reese.I have Henirich's family back to his grandfather Karl Wolfgang Schroeder.I have Luise's family back to her parents.I also have pictures for Henrich and his parents!
Now re: Luise Reisenberg. She seems to be much harder and one which there seems to be very little information on.I am curious as to the birthdate you have for her.Jean and I have the same month and day, but we have 1862.Of course I believe my info orignially came from Jean's though I have done my fair share of checking census data.I'm wondering if what we have for her might not have been misread or something.A year difference isn't a big deal but I like my info to be as correct as possible, so when I find family that have something even a little bit different I like to compare.
Thank you for providing her date of death!I didn't have that at all.
On her I had a family story that when she left Germany she was 15 years old and trucked, by herself all the way to America. She was actually trying to reach California but ran out of money in Toledo, Ohio... where she met Frederick, got married and had a family.
Jean told me a part of the story that survived in her family. She told me that Louise did this because she was a deeply religious woman and thought it was God's will that she immigrate!
I also have on her that after Frederick's accidental death the family's farm was foreclosed on and they had to move elsewhere.
For her the only info I have on ancestors is the name of her father, so you have more.We have his name as August Reisenberg. So I'm wondering if her father was a Frederick August or an August Frederick Reisenberg.Again here I'd LOVE :) to know your source.I'll be adding Charlotte to the tree today!
I have George on my tree (Your g.grandfather)I added his middle name.I will be adding the vitals you have provided me as well.I'd love to get the rest of his ascendancy from you.
My family tree can be found at http://www.myheritage.com/site-48284352/tolbert-brownhttp://www.myheritage.com/site-48284352/tolbert-brown and I'd love for you to join it and see what Jean and I have and how much more the three of us can peice together!
