WWII pilot William "Bill: Schroeder

I do research into Israel's first fighter squadron. In 1948, the squadron had a volunteer American pilot named Bill Schroeder, who had flown in WWII. Schroeder left the squadron when the war ended and lost touch with everyone.

I'm trying to track him down, but "Bill Schroeder" is not an uncommon name. Any chance anyone here know who I'm talking about?
