is this (von) schro(e)der crest and text familiar to you?
Hello, do any of you Schro(e)ders out there recognise this text that is underneath a crest that my family has (can't show the crest here unfortunately, but can email a scan to you from [email protected]; it shows two eagles on a triangle on top of 4 red mountains).
in german:
WAPPEN SCHRÖDER GEHOBEN AUS DEN WAHREN ALTEN BUCHERN VON ANTONIA BONACINA IN
SANTA MARGERITA GABSE BEY DEM CRUZIFIX IN MAYLAND. ZUM RITTER GESCHLABEN BEI FREDERICK
BARBAROSSA IM 11TH JAHRHUNDERD
My best translation is:
CREST OF SCHRÖDER LIFTED FROM THE PRESERVE OF OLD BOOKS OF ANTONIA BONACINA IN SANTA
MARGERITA NEAR THE CROSS IN MAYLAND [near delmenhorst, north germany]. [to the soldier] KNIGHTED
BY [emperor] FREDERICK BARBAROSSA IN THE 11TH CENTURY
regards, Ewald Schroder
