Info about Joseph (Jozsef) Schreiner (emigrated to the USA in 1888 from Hungary)
Hi everyone, I'm Sandor Schreiner from Hungary and I'm looking for info on my great-great-grandfather Joseph (or Jozsef) Schreiner. The facts that I know: Joseph Schreiner emigrated to the USA in 1888, after his wife (Maria Demmel) died from childbirth with his 3 children: Anna (or Annie?) Schreiner, Maria (or Mary) Schreiner and his son who was Joseph (or Jozsef) Schreiner also. My great-grandfather Janos Schreiner (still an infant in 1888) was left here in Hungary. I do not know birth dates, death dates, or anything, only that they emigrated in 1888. Anna and Maria were later married, Anna became Anna Vollmann and Maria became Maria Gollinger. Anna had four daughters and Maria had two sons. (Husbands' and children's names are not known.) I also know that younger Joseph Schreiner served in the air force in World War 2, he fought over Budapest. It's a bit hard to search for them, because all these names can be written in different ways (like Joseph in Hungary is 'József', in Germany 'Josef' etc.) and I don't know which one they were using. They were living in Rábafüzes (Rabafuzes or Raabfiddisch) in Hungary before they left to America. Joseph Schreiner (the older) was most likely a shoemaker. I'd like to know how and where they lived, how their lives worked out in the USA. If anyone can help with anything, please write to me! Thanks in advance, Sandor Schreiner
