Don't know if this helps. My grandgather George Schreiber was born into a large family (approximately ten children if memory serves, but it often doesn't) in Buda or Pest, Hungary somewhere around 1878.He was a journeyman carriage painter, travelling all over Europe. He married Herman Lowy from either Pest or Buda.He was Catholic, she was Jewish. They came to NYC about the turn of the century, maybe a few years after that.My mother Ella Schreiber was born 12/3/08.There were other Schreibers that emigrated to the US, but I have no knowledge of their names.According to my mother, one of my grandfather's forebears was a "countess" who married a commoner and lost her rights to any noble titles.
