I am a descendant of Sarah B. Schouten. I might have a picture of Sarah Electa Buel as an old woman. My grandmother labeled the picture as "great grandmother Schouten," and Sarah Electa was her great grandmother. However, we can't be sure she correctly labeled this or other old pictures we found (pictures of Sarah B., Aunt Babe, George, and Samuel (Sammy), along with a few unidentified people).
My dad was on the former Schouten property in Benton county several years ago and he talked to the current owner. Sammy Schouten was the last resident, and the current owner said Sammy was put in a nursing home and left many family mementos behind in an attic or shed at the house. The man said he kept the mementos for many years and finally burned them. We were sick at the thought of what might have been lost to us forever.
