Hi Cindi,thanks for sending me this information. I am trying to fit your information in with what I know of my grandfather, Harvey Scouten. It is a fact he was married to Sabra Wells. My Harvey maintains he was placed in an orphanage at an early age. He says he ran away from the orphanage at about age 12 and was taken in on a farm. He also said the orphanage had a fire and the records were destroyed. Unfortunately we don't know the name of the orphanage or where it was located. I have found a Harvey Scouten, age 9, in the Syracuse, NY. 1892 census. I have found my Harvey living on a farm near Norwich, NY in 1905. There is an orphanage near by that did have a fire and the records were destroyed.
I am still very much interested in learning more about your family. As Harvey would have been 28 in 1910 there is a strong possibility that he had already moved away from his family.
I am very interested in knowing how you came to think your Harvey was married to Sabra Wells. Do you know if Mary and Mable or any other family members lived in and around Fulton, NY? Do you know if he had a sister named Minnie?
