Hi, everyone. Does anyone recognize the name Theophilus E.S. Scholes? He was Jamaican, born c.1854, died c.1937 in England. He studied at the Guiness-Grattan Missionary School in London, c.1879-1881(at any rate it was a seminary founded by Dr. Guiness). Afterwards, he took a medical degree at University of Edinburgh, c. 1881-1885. After spending 5 years in Africa as a missionary, he took another medical degree in Brussels, Belgium, then returned to Africa in 1894 where he spent two more years. He started writing and publishing books and pamphlets in 1888, after which he migrated to England (I think London). I would really appreciate it (as a grad student at the University of the West Indies) if any of you could confirm whether Theophilus Scholes belongs to any branch of the Scholes family in England (or anywhere else for that matter). I think that with these credentials it would be relatively easy to trace whether this important scholar, missionary, and medical practitioner belongs in any of the families in this Genealogical forum. I'm particularly interested in the circumstances (and time/place) of his death and details of his life in England. Thanking you all in advance.
