Hi Sue, I now think I may be starting to get somewhere with this. On the 1881 census I have a Scholes family living with my Fish family at Longworth, Lancashire.
There's a Robert (birthplace Longworth, Lancashire) and Betsy Scholes (birthplace Over Darwen, Lancashire) aged 20 with their one month old twin daughters, Betsy and Jenet.
I'm assuming that Jenet is Janet the adopted daughter / niece I find living with Esther Worsley (nee Fish) on the 1891 and 1901 censuses.
I'm hoping to find that Betsy Scholes was a Fish before marriage. The birthplace of Over Darwen certainly ties in with where the Fish family were living in 1866, hopefully I'll be able to find them in the same place on the 1861 census.
So, sorry, but I don't seem to be making any connections to the Church / Accrington area.
