Hello Jerome,
Since posting this message what seems like years ago, I know much more about the Schofield part of my family now. We are definitely related. Elizabeth Schofield, the youngest of William's children is my great, great grandmother.I even have a photo of her and her husband, John Stott. I would love to learn however more about your branch of the family. I would love to read through the material you found in your attic, its sounds very exciting. I can send you my research assembled on Family Tree Maker if you are interested. I have all the information from all the Censuses on William and his family. There are still however some big gaps.
