I am pleased to see so many others with the same interest and have enjoyed your notes to each other. I to am related to Michael and Freidrick Schoaf, and have been looking for more information on Michael's Ancestors. I have some of the same information that you have but in some instances my information doesn't entirely match what I have gleaned from your messages to each other. I am hoping to confirm any or all information and to assist anyone in the further research on this line.
I have read excerpts from the book-"Descendants of Jacob Schoff", especially the chapter entitled "Other Schoff Families". The information is sparse but is what has allowed me to connect to this line. I only knew that Michael Shaw or Shoff moved to Townsend, Norfolk, Ontario, Canada with his wife (Freelove Culver) and her father (Jabez Cullver/Collver), I had been looking for the Shaw name, but have recently found in some Ontario History books, that the name Shaw derived from Shoff or Schoaf and was anglicized due to Shaw, due to a misspelling on the Land Grants they received for moving to Canada. Michael's son Vincent is My GGGGrandfather. From the books that I have read, I have recently found that his brother Dennis and his Father Freidrick moved to the same general area about the same time. I also have found that Michael resided for a short time in Chemung, New York, where he and his wife Freelove and her Father and apparently some of Jabez Culvers Children appear in the 1790 Census, which confirmed the information I was able to glean from the Book "Descendents of Edward Culver", a very large genealogy of the Culver, Colver, Collver, etc. lines. There are apparently a large number of descendants of the Shoff/Shaw/Schoaf, Culver/Colver/Collver families in the Ontario region and into the upper and eastern United States.
If anyone of you can please respond so that we might see if we can work together and or share information, I would greatly appreciate it.
