I am hoping someone has some extensive history on the Schnell family from Reichelsheim Friedberg, Oberhessen, Hessen Germany. I would like to verify info I just found at LDS, to see if this family is MY Snell family.
Gr-gr grandfather Henry Snell b. abt. 1849 in Germany; his wife was Amelia/Emilie BELTZ, who was b. abt. 1846 in Ger.
About 1882 or so the family immigrated to NY, then by end of 1890's was in Michigan, and by 1900 living in Painesville, Lake Co.,OH. (near Cleveland); son OTTO was born in Germany abt. 1874 and also dau. Mary b. abt. 1878.
The obit for dau. Matilda states she was born in Little Falls, Herkimer Co., NY in 1885. (history for that county says many GEr. families migrated to SE Michigan - so assume Henry and family followed the migration); NOW to tie in:
LDS has a marriage for EMILIE BELZ and HEINRICH SCHNELL for 21 Dec. 1873 Evangelisch, Reichelsheim Friedberg, oberhessen,Hessen. (another dau. Amelia states she was b. in Reidel....., Hessen); another record at LDS shows that PHILIPP SCHNELL and MARIE ELISABETHE ENGEL had a son Heinrich christened 28 May 1848, same town etc. as marriage. This looks like this is my gr gr grandfather for the marriage and for the birth - does anyone have any info on Philipp and wife? LDS also shows 2 more sons for Philipp and Marie: Karl b. 30 Jun 1854 d. 29 June 1855 and Wilhelm christened 03 Nov. 1850 same town info.
ANY ONE OUT THERE THAT HAS SIMILAR INFO or is this data in a Schnell book?
