My great grandfather is William Snyder, he married my Great grandma Mary Margaret Locke Aug. 14, 1881. in Fountain Co. Indiana. What I do know beyond this was that his father may or may not have been born in Ohio, could have been Indiana also. 1900 census has his parents listed both being born in Ohio. 1910 both born in Indiana, 1920 has his dad listed as United States and his mother Indiana.
In my early research I found a Jeremiah Snyder and Mary Snyder both born in Ohio, son William born in 1857 Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co. Indiana. Then I found Members Trees (ancestry) that backed up what I found. So I assumed this was my line and even met a distant cousin. Found out who Jeremiah's and Mary's parents were and I was fairly content. The tree's had Jeremiah's parents as Adam Snyder and Catherine Shuss.
Last week, I found out that the Jeremiah and Mary Snyder of Montgomery Co. Indiana was not the line for Adam and Catherine. This Jeremiah's parents were David Snyder and Rachel Paulin. So, I finally got around to ordering my great grandfather's death certificate, sure that I would still find Jeremiah and Mary listed as his parents. BUT... not so. I got the DC today and my Great great grandfather's name was Thomas Snyder, Indiana, and my Great great grandmother is only listed by her maiden name of Kennedy, United States.
Now I am on a search for Williams parents once again. I do not find in the 1860 or 1870 census a young William living with a father by the name of Thomas. I do find a William Snyder living near my Great grandmother in 1880, but he is a boarder working on a farm. So no parents listed but birth place given as Pennsylvania. But depending on who gave the information this may be wrong.
So, does anyone have a Thomas, married to a Kennedy, with a son William born July 1857?
