Hi Ken,
I also descend from Anthony & Margaret SCHNEIDER through their son, and Matthias' brother, Carl Henry ("Henry") SCHNEIDER.
Did Bill Lee ever respond to your posting?I haven't been able to contact him yet.
I've used the Drylands church records in the Trexler Library of the Lehigh Valley Historical Society (LVHS) in Allentown, PA for my research. In their transcriptions of the records of the Drylands church in Hecktown, PA, they also have Matthias SCHNEIDER b. 1 Nov 1772, bp. 28 Mar 1773 with sponsors Matthias & Barbara Hummel.Matthias' parents were given as Anthony and Anna Margaret SCHNEIDER.
Bill Lee's posting named Matthias siblings, the other children of Anthony & Margaret SCHNEIDER, as John Peter, Carl Henry, Catharine Barbara and John SCHNEIDER.I agree completely about John Peter, Carl Henry, Matthias and mostly about John SCHNEIDER.But there is a discrepancy about Catharine Barbara.
The LVHS transcription of the Drylands church records has the parents of Catharine as Anthony & Margaret >>>SCHWEITZER<<
Do you have any information that could be used to resolve this discrepancy regarding Catharine?
From the LVHS transcription of the Shoenersville Lutheran Congregation ( aka Christ Lutheran) in Hanover Twp., Lehigh Co., PA, I have the following information regarding Matthias SCHNEIDERand his wife Anna Maria _______ and children:
- Michael b. 23 Nov 1794
- Elizabeth b. 21 Jun 1796
- Anna Marie b. 24 Dec 1797
- Susanna b. 22 Feb 1799
- Henry b. 25 Sep 1800
- Anthony b. 1 Jun 1802
- John b. 14 Nov 1803
- Barbara b. 4 Dec 1806(father's name given as Matthew)
Do these names and dates match your records?I also have the baptism dates and sponsor's names if you don't.
I also am trying to push back beyond Anthony SCHNEIDER.I'm aware of an unsourced internet report that gives Anthony's birth as 1741 in Nazareth, Northampton Co., PA but I can't confirm that.I'm also pursuing the conjecture that Anthony was the immigrant of this branch of the SCHNEIDER family.I've found these possibilities entering the USA in Philadelphia:
- Anthony SNIDER, age 17, aboard "Snow Thane" in 1741
- Anthon SCHNEIDER aboard "Snow Charlotta" in 1743
- Anndon SCHNEIDER aboard "Phoenix" in 1744
(Johannes, Casper and Paul SCHNEIDER on same ship)
- Anthony SHNYDER aboard "Osgood" in 1750
(Jacob SCHNEIDTER aboard same ship)
What have you come up with regarding Anthony since your 2009 posting?
Jon Avery
