Schneider Y-DNA Project Update
The Schneider/Snyder/Snider Y-DNA is growing nicely now. We are still seeing more unique lines with just a couple sporadic, random matches having been logged. The good news is that as more people sign up and the more lines we identify genetically, the more likely we'll be to see these random matches. These matches can sometimes provide help in getting over those painful brick walls we all encounter in genealogy.
I've recently undertaken a rather lengthy and painful project to extract from the Sorensen Molecular Foundation Database the results of all Schneiders (and variants) who tested with them. These are anonymous donors, and I have no contact information for them. They add value to the project because we get the DNA results for their lines and the pedigrees they provided with them. I was hoping when I added their 15 sets of results to the results table I might see at least one or two random matches with existing participants, but no such luck.
If anyone out there descends from any of these SMGF lines that you can see at the following link and would like to be a point of contact for the line (e.g. in case there's a match), please let me know. I'll just keep your name and e-mail address in my records...they won't be posted anywhere.

Finally, please note that the cost of DNA testing has gone down dramatically in the past couple of years thanks to more efficient testing tools and competition. The tests are nicely discounted for the end of the year too. It's a great time to join.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
