Hello Bernadette,
I too am looking for "Schmitt's/Schmit/Schmidt". Most of my family came from the "Alsace-Lorraine" and surrounding areas.Including this name, there's "Krautkremer, Feddick?(sp)(I've always known it as) Kranig/Kronig, Schaak. Hubert and AnnaMarie Schaak(Leonertz) were born in Alsace-Lor 1840's. They had a son Jacob, Mathew, Franz?Steve? (one or 2 people)and 3daughters(I know of?) Margarette, Juliana, and Anna. I haven't much info on Schmitt's except there is a "Stub Schmitt", Christine Schmitt, and Verna & Lorraine Schmitt, the last is Karl S. Some of them lived in Wisconsin, some lived in Minn. There you have it. Sound familiar? I do feel there's a connection here somewhere. Alsace-L was not a big town, and everybody was related in some way. I have some history of it. Please let me know if I helped or if perhaps you can help me? OR both!:-) Take care Happy Holidays to you and yours - Judy G
