Dear Debi,

I found Johannes Hammel under No. 908 in the book of Hochspeyer inhabitants. He died in May 20, 1864 at Hochspeyer, he had married in January 4,1831 Charlotte Wahl at Hochspeyer. She was born at Schopp about the year 1810 and was the daughter of Adam Wahl and Margarethe Migot or Migeot of Schopp.
They had together 11 children but I didn't find any Magdalena, but I can tell you the children that are listed:
1. Elisabeth b. 1831 died 1831
2. Heinrich b. 1832
3. Jakob b. 1834
4. Katharina b. 1836, died 1838
5. Eva b. 1837
6. Johannes b. 1840
7. Peter b. 1842
8. Elisabeth b. 1845, died 1847
9. Luise b. 1847
10. dead born baby, no name known
11. Charlotte b. 1850
Perhaps it's possible that Magdalena was the second firstname of your Magdalena Hammel.
Sorry, I couldn't find any Hoerschelmann or Herschelmann in my book, only Hirschelmann. As Louisa Hammel and John Hirschelmann must have been married after 1850 there are no more informations in this book.
If you have some more informations that could simplify our surch please tell me!
My letter to Mr. Neumer, the author of the Hochspeyer-book is ready to be send tomorrow mornging.

Greetings from Kerstin
