I'm just beginning this trek. My great-grandfather was Van Doren Schenck but I don't know much about him. My grandfather was William Earl Schenck PA/NE/CA - 1885 - 1972.
My dad was Merle Dean Schenck NE/CA 1917 - 1985.
I've been searching websites and trying to mix it with family lore. First, I was always told that Schenck mean an innkeeper not pouring anything. I was also told I was German. But, I've found that the Van Dorens and Schencks were some of the first Dutch settlers. However, the family then went to Western, PA and isn't that the German Schencks?
If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.
