Update to my previous message. Still looking for any ancestors or descendents of Karl "Charles" Scheller who immigrated to America in 1881 from Brandenburg, Germany.

Mystery #1: Charles married Louisa Wendt in 1881 (according to the Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1900 census) also from Brandenburg, immigration 1872, but their children's birthdates (Agnes, Otto, and Ida) were before 1880. Martha and Lizzie were born after 1880. The census marriage date may be incorrect, but the marriage date is consistent with the immigration date unless the immigration date is incorrect as well.

All the Scheller children were born in Michigan and the family moved on to Milwaukee by 1900.

Charles was a brewery worker, Otto was a Steam Fitter (?), and Martha was a Stenographer (as per the 1900 census).

Mystery #2: On Agnes' daughter's insurance policy taken out in 1913, the beneficiary is listed as Clara Scheller, Grand-Mother. Louisa is the grandmother, so who is Clara? Was she really Clara Louisa Scheller and if so, why isn't she listed on her death certificate or census records that way? If Clara is indeed a previous spouse of Charles (which would make some sense because of the children's birthdates being before Charles & Louisa's marriage) then Charles and Clara must have gotten a divorce because a dead person can not be named as beneficiary of an insurance policy. If she is a previous spouse of Charles, when did she arrive in America if Charles came over in 1881 and almost immediately married Louisa? Did Charles and Clara come together and he fell in love with Louisa, ditched Clara, and married Louisa?

I would love to have some answers to these questions!

So, what happened to the children of Charles & Louisa (and Clara...)

Agnes Scheller b. Apr. 15, 1875 d. May 18, 1948 married William Ziesemeier. They had 5 children, 4 of whom survived, but one having polio. William dumped Agnes for Agnes' best friend and next door neighbor. Agnes later married again to a Robert Usadel; supposedly he wasn't a very nice man.

Otto Scheller b. Jul. 1876 d. ? married a woman (name unknown) and had two children, Margaret and Arthur. Otto's wife passed away and he later married a woman named Laura. Otto and Laura had no children.

Ida Scheller b. Aug. 1879 d. Aug. 1, 1962 married Heinrich Plank and the couple had two children; Vernon and Everett. After Henry's death in 1941, Ida married again to a John Backes or Backus. I've seen it spelled both ways, I don't know which is correct.

Martha Scheller b. Jul. 1882 d. ? married Henry Miller. No known children at this time.

Lizzie Scheller b. Aug. 1884 d. ? married Raymond Mayer. Nothing more is known about this couple.

I am seeking anyone with ANY SLIM POSSIBILITY of knowledge of this family. I've been at a dead end for 20 years. Please help!
