Very glad to find another Schell researcher. Here is what I have:
Robert Hopkins Schell, B abt 1832, taken from Rolston City, 1870, New Mexico Census (all census I have list him as being from Canada) and death dertificate. Supposed to married in Silver City, NM. (according to our family; have not documented this as records were not kept until 1890's in Silver City.) To: Elizabeth Frances Bryand/t. (she died as a Muratt) Robert died later in life as a result of a premature blast while working on the Road to Roosevelt. (Tortila Flat Rd) Do not know the reason for divorce, but Elizabeth "Lizzie" was a very colorful person- several husbands and children. Lizzie, when she was going blind told my dad, who at the time thought it was the ramblings of an old woman, some of the most bizarre stories he had ever heard. Slowly I have proved many of them. Her first husband was to have been killed in Silver City by Indians. Found on NM census with husband and child at the age of 18, (1870}. Then, husband #2 Robert Schell, The Schell's move to Globe- bringing children: 1)Maggie (Margaret), 1873, New Mexico, (birthdate taken from 1880 Pinal County, Az census) Listed on Pinal County, Globe School Census- then disappears; 2) Robert B Schell, 1875, New Mexico. (birth date established from census and
Az death certificate: 1922. 3) Hardy Edward Schell, Nov 09, 1877, NM. d. 1969 Prescott, Az, (Pioneers Home) Spouses: Mary Evelyn Blake, 1900 - Mary had 4 husbands, 2) Bertha Viola Reid. Of all the children Hardy is the most documented. Cowboyed- Many land marks are named after Hardy. Bertha is well documented with the US Forest Service. Her first husband , Sterling Ellis died in a mining accident, leaving her the mine. I have children if you want them. 4) Joseph Elmer b 1879, NM, (birthdate documented from census') listed on 1880 Pinal County, Pioneer Mine, as living with mother, sister Maggie and step father Alvin Beach. (our line). What I can find is that the older boys went with Dad and baby Joseph and Maggie went with mother. Joseph is listed: 1900, Gila County Census, Plesant Valley, Az. Joseph married Ella Goodin, 1901; Gila County Census, 1930, listed with wife, Lucretia (Sullivan) and children. Married, Camp Verde, Yavapai, 01, Feb, 1910

We visited Hardy in the Pioneer Home, but I never met Bertha, perhaps my mom did. From Sterlings Ellis death date we have established a marriage date somewhere around 1930-
Hope this helps...anyway I can help please ask. By the way who is your grandmother?
