Thanks for sharing this interesting information from what is obviously a fabulous source. I wonder whether it might possibly contain any references to my Hoffert / Hufford ancestors, who also settled in eastern Berks County, later moving south to Whitpain Township (then Phila., now Montgomery County) and eventually to Frederick County, Maryland. Whitpain was on one road -- the Skippack Pike -- from Philadelphia to the outlying northern settlements.

Would the Schell "mansion house" have been in that part of Bucks County that became Northampton and eventually Lehigh County?

For those who see this post but do not speak German, the text "wachet und bettet" (or rather betet in standard German) means "watch and pray." (The verb "betten" means "to bed," obviously not what was intended.)
