I have seen the name spelled all three ways on the same church ledger sheet: Sheffler,Scheffler, and Schoeffel. Our elusive ancestor is Wolfgang Schoeffel b. 13 Apr 1833 Bavaria, Germany. He came to the US in 1853 through Bremen to Baltimore. He is supposed to be the youngest of 7 brothers.
