OBITUARY RECORDANNA C. SHEETZ, of POTTSTOWN.
ANNA C. SHEETZ, of POTTSTOWN.Anna C. Scheetz died on Monday evening, July 19th, at the residence of her son, Dr. J. H. Scheetz, No. 63 King street, Pottstown, aged 70 years, 8 months and 112 days.She had been ill for about five weeks, with general debility and other ailments resulting from advanced years.Deceased was the widow of Gen. John Scheetz, at one time quite a prominent citizen of Montgomery county, and a descendant of an old and well known family -- his grandfather, Philip Scheetz, having been an officer in the war of the revolution.He (Gen. John Scheetz) died in Pottstown on the 30th of January, 1847.The maiden name off Mrs. Scheetz was Anna C. Sands, also of an old family in this section of the country, and she was the sister of William L. Sands, of Pottstown; another brother Joel Sands, left this part of the country thirty-five years ago and has not since been heard from.Eight children survive her – Dr. J. H. Scheetz of Pottstown; Kate, wife of Robt. Buchanan, of Philadelphia; George and John Scheetz, Pottstown; Annie E., wife of John M. Edson, of Towanda, Pa.; W. Bigler and James S. Scheetz of Philadelphia.Deceased was an estimable lady, having many relatives and friends in the community.The funeral will take place on Friday, the 23rd, at 2 p.m., Interment at Pottstown Cemetery.
