I have traced my heritage to Niclaus Schaumloeffel, who emigrated from Hesse, Germany in 1840 at the age of 26. I believe he may have had a brother Konrad, who emigrated in 1836. According to the ship's records, Konrad emigrated with a spouse, 4 male children, and 6 female children.

It appears that Niclaus then changed his name to Nicholaus Shamleffer. He & his wife Catherine had three sons - John, William & Leonard. William is my great-Grandfather.

How far back have you traced the Schaumleffel family?
