I found a letter from my grandma's cousin where she told her about their great-grandfather. His name was Johann Schäfer and he was born 1815 probably in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. His father was Johann Schäfer (born 1790) and Anna Maria Becker. He left his wife and 5 children and went to the US where he remarried. His family never heard from him until he died and they inherrited some money.
If someone knows something about what happened to him or his descendents please contact me.
