Matilda was the daughter of Charles and Anna Schaar b. Minnesota 1884. Charles was the son of Anthony (Anton) and Barbara b. 1861 Minnesota. Anton was the son of Joannes Schaar and Margarethae Marx who were married in Hetzerath Wittlich, Rheinland, Prussia on February 1, 1816.
Children of Joannes (John) and Margarethae (Margaret) were found to date:
Irmina b. 1816 m. Matthias Roth 1837 Trier, Germany.
Helena b. 1818 m. Peter Metzen January 17, 1850 Buffalo, NY
Anton b. 1821 , twin to John Joseph, m. Barbara (Buffalo, NY?) and Elizabeth, Minnesota.
John Joseph b. 1821, never married.

Biographical
"Anton Schaar was born in Germany, in 1821. Moved to America in 1848, and settled in Hennepin country ten years later. He bought a farm, built a log house, and cleared two acres the first year; has now cleared it up and built a nice house. His last marriage was to Elizabeth Boetel. They have four children now living."
