Hi I've been sent an undated but (relatively) recent newspaper cutting from Western Austalia, that I thought someone may be interested in. It's a small item by Daniel Clery concerning Fremantle Prison and its foundation day celebrations. It mentions a certificate being handed out to the Austalian great great grandaughter of Samuel Scattergood, the first registered convict to arrive on WA shores in 1850, one of 75 convicts on the Scindian. I presume this is the Samuel Scattergood mentioned by Maralyn Carter as 'born in Sheepshed in around 1814 and was convicted and transported to Western Australia'. One or two extra details on it if anyone wants them Jill Notify Administrator about this message?
