I have found a document for Patrick Henry Scaites (notice the spelling). He joined the US Army Rifles regiment, Company A Nov 5 1817 at the age of 15. He is listed as 5 feet 8 1/4 inch tall, with hazel eyes, light hair and dark complextion (a tan from working in the fields?). Listed as a farmer born in....HALIFAX COUNTY VA.

His father was William A Skaats/Scates born 1774.

Betty Haney, if you are out there, can you see if you have any Jeremiah Scates listed in Halifax circa 1700s?

Our lines are definately tied together. Now I just have to figure out where.
