Sounds like maybe your family and mine are related. My gggrandfather was William "Charley" Charles.Howver, I have recently found two records which refer to him as a Scarberry.I have been trying for years to discover who his parents are, but can't figure it out.He first appears in the 1870 Lawrence County KY census record at the age of 19 with his first wife Lydia Pack Charles. He and his wife and children are listed on the Lawrence Co census records for 1880, 1900, 1910, and 1920.Always listed as Charles, sometimes his first name is William and sometimes as Charley. His second wife (married in 1888) was Josephine Burton. His children were:Nancy Jane, George W., Henry S., Oscar, Molly, Hester, and then with 2nd wife: Nolda, Hattie, Gipsey, Nora, and Alonzo.Does any of this sound familar to you?So many of the names are the same that I feel certain that your family and mine are related some way.
