Hi Anne,
I have the Cloyne Diocese records of Scannells given to me by the Parish Priest in Rathcormac. The only Daniel Scannell that I see of an approximate age to come to the US in the late 1800s/early 1900s was baptized Nov 07, 1868, the youngest son of John Scannell and Elizabeth Callaghan.

The older children are:
Patrick 1856/03/07
Jeremiah 1857/04/19
Timothy 1858/03/24
Mary 1859/06/25
John 1862/07/12
Margaret 1864/08/10

John and Elizabeth were married 1854/02/23.

Ring any bells?
Best regards, Don McCullough
