I haven't been back to this site since May. I'm sure you're chomping at the bit for the answer!!

Florence George Scannell was born in 1843 in the village of Glenflesk outside of Kilarney, Kerry. Around 1863 he emigrated to the US and settled in Potsdam, NY. There he married Abigail Casey (originally from County Cork) and after a few years (and a few children) moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.

One of their 12 children (Joseph B. Scannell) was my grandfather. He resided in Iowa City, IA and raised a family of 5 children. Unfortunately, he died at a very young age in the late 1920's.

One of his 5 children (Paul J Scannell) was my father. He moved to Providence, RI right before World War II and returned there after the war. I was born and raised in RI.

Hope that helps you.

Jerry
