Tim, Thank you for the follow-up. I'd talked to Pennsylvania before about the adoption records, so I know how strict they are. This was years ago and they suggested they wouldn't even entertain the idea of opening her records until 100 years after her birth - I guess to make sure that everyone involved is long gone. Even then, I would need to get a court order. They also told me not to bother because there was a fire in the records building during a certain year (after 1909) that would have destroyed any information I'd hoped to obtain. Pennsylvania seems to be quite serious about their privacy. But, this year is 100 years, so I may try anyway, even despite all that. My grandma's background has always been such a mystery. I'd love to make some connections with others who know the names/families. Thank you for all the tips. I'll contact Vital Records and see what they say about a grand-daughter seeking birth records and hope they will be accommodating. Notify Administrator about this message?
