Dear Brenda,

Greetings from Ballyduff, Co. Waterford.

Are you sure the name was Josephine? It is a bit unusual in that period. Many girls known as Jo, Jude, Judy, Julie etc were baptized Johanna - it was one of the most common names in that period.

I am looking for hundreds of Scanlon/Scanlans that disappeared to the USA from 1790 - 1910. Johanna was the second most popular name after Mary.

God Bless.

Yours Sincerely,

William M. Lane.
