Limerigg was part of a collection of small mining communities based round Slamanan. I met an old guy who remembers the Scally boys who used to swin in the nearby Black Loch (long time ago), which was brave of them since it is pretty cold up there. There are four houses in a block where the Scally's and Reynolds lived - the block is still there (although there are inside toilets now). The area used to be just bleak moorland but it has been planted by forestry for the last 25 years. The old guy said it was pretty tough back thern - he said their mother (your grandmother) died quite young and the father (your grandfather) had to bring the boys up. Says the boys left in the 40s or 50s for US.
