After I posted, it occurred to me that since the marriage of Josephine Scallions and Archer Frank was recorded as a marriage between Josephine Scallions and A.F. Gadis, that perhaps they were also listed erroneously on the 1880 census. Indeed they were ... I found the following information:
1880 Census, District 7, Lauderdale County, Tennessee National Ravhive Film T9-1266, Page 173A.
Archer F. Gadis Self Marr. M W age 25 Birthplace NC Occ. Farmer Fa. NC Mo. NC
Josephine Gadis Other Marr F W age 18 b. TN Occ. Keeps House Fa: TN Mo. TN
Walter Gadis Other Single M W age 1 b. TN Fa. NC Mo. TN

So, now you know where Archer was born. I don't quite understand the relationship to Josephine and Walter as other. That must be a mistake as their marriage is recorded in Lauderdale County, Tennessee

Good luck with your search.
