Thanks, Oscar.Your info helped a lot, and I was able to make a few additions to my tree. For Mary Irving Pillow and Floyd Lawson Scales, I had a third child, Edwin French Scales.Don't know that this would be right, since Mary did not marry Mr. French until apparently after Floyd had died (before 1913).Perhaps I could have been given the wrong name; it could conceivably be Edwin Scales French, but that, too, seems a little odd.
As to "Dan," my guess is that it is referring to Wm. Nathaniel.Nicknames sometimes followed an actual name's sound; e.g., his brother Erasmus Decatur was known at "Dick."Just a guess.I have only two Daniels in my Scales list, but they died in 1835 and 1840, respectively.I have no Scaleses with Daniel as a middle name.
As to the web site, go for it.I know nothing of constructing such things, but I will help where I can.I am sure others will have info to add which will help us all.The Kaigler site is attractive, fairly easy to follow, and overall well done.
Keep in touch.
