Henry Scales, also called "alias Henry Gibson" in the will of his father (or step-father) Joseph Scales, Sr. dated 1773.He married Mary Jenkins, a widow ca 1764.Children were:
1)Joseph, born 28 July 1765, died 1833 in Shelby Co, TN.
2) Mary, born 14 June 1767; married Thomas Williams in Rockingham Co 26 April 1794
3) Elizabeth Scales, born 6 June 1769. died 28 Mar 1825; married in 1792 John Dodd, born 28 Mar 1764 Amelia Co VA, died 11 Sept 1840 Gibson Co TN
4) Lucy, born 10 April 1771; married Robert Wall
5) Anna (Polly) born 12 Sep 1772; married John Nichols
6) Jeremiah, born 6 Apr 1774
7) Richard, born 24 Feb 1776, died 30 Nov 1798
8) Ellen, born 16 Sep 1778, died 25 Sep 1856; married Samuel Allen
9) James, born 11 Apr 1780, died 18 May 1860; married Mary Scales, a cousin, Mrs Elizabeth (Joyce) Deatherage, and Mrs Charlotte (Dalton) Dalton
10) Henry, born 12 Sep 1783, died 1819/20 Giles Co TN; married Martha Hansford Edwards 8 Dec 1807
11) Nathaniel, born 25 Jan 1785, died by 1839; married Carolina Matilda Joyce
