A very dear friend of mine was doing a one name study of the name Scarr (which incidentally was my grandmothers maiden name) and he in his research studied scaife at the same time (which incidentally was my grandfathers surname) thinking that there may be some connection between the names. He gave me a list of Scaifes in the Yorkshire area.I have found a William Scaife 19.9.1803.From his writing it looks like Kilburn in Yorkshire, England. In the same parish there was a marriage between a William Scaife and a Dinah Tate on 7.11.1793.I will re-read your message again and see if I can find out any more information from you.I will also have a good look through my records and try and find some more William Scaife's for you if this doesnt turn out to be the right match.
