My earliest records show Alexander, William, and Isabella Sawhill. The story is that their original surname was changed at Ellis Island. The problem is that we haven't been able to identify that original name! Since 'Sawhill' is really close to 'Scahill', maybe there is a connection?
William Sawhill was born in 1773, and died 29 April 1841.
Alexander Sawhill was born in Tyrone, Ireland, in 1777; he married Mary Neely 28 Sept 1798; he died 19 Sept 1837 in Claysville, PA. He had 13 children: William, Mary, Elizabeth, Neely, James, Isabella, Benjamin, John, Robert, Martha, infant son, Jane, and Alexander Sawhill Jr.
Isabella Sawhill was born in 1782; she married David McConaughay; she died 15 Jan 1855 in Deerfield, Ohio. She had five children: Jane, Mathilda, John, William, and Eliza McConney.
