Well, now that I've gotten up off the floor, I'll respond.
I never thought I would hear from anyone who actually had pictures of any of these folks. I think you must be Debra Olzewski's mom, right? I guess Kitty is Catherine, Mary Jane's oldest daughter, right? And Gertrude was the other daughter and much much younger.
I'm descended from Kitty --- she was my great grandmother, whom, of course, I never met. She married John Burns & one of her sons was Daniel. One of Daniel's sons was Jack Burns, my dad. Some of Gertrude's children still live in Michigan. She married Harry Bonney...her son, Harry Bonney Jr. lives in Port Huron, MI and he wrote to me twice in 2000 & 2001 but then nothing. Thomas & Richard, her other sons, also are living. Gertrude's daughter became a nun and, according to Harry Jr., died in June 2000...about two months before I got ahold of him because I saw his name in the Port Huron, Michigan phone book as I was passing through coming back from a trip to meet other Canadian relatives for the first time. I wrote to Harry & he wrote me back and told me that Mary Jane lived with Gertrude & Harry when Harry Jr. was a little boy...Mary Jane sewed his clothes. He said that both his sister (the nun) and his mother, Gertrude, were very musical.
You may also write me at patpiper@worldnet.att.net. And, of course, I would probably be willing to die for copies of those pictures that you have. I live in Minneapolis --- where are you?
Can't wait to hear more from you. No, I have no pictures of these people. My dad died in 1984. I don't think he ever remembered the name Scahill. I discovered the name in 1976 in London, Ontario in St. Peter's Cathedral where I found Kitty's marriage records. Neither the priest or I knew how to pronounce Scahill. Also, other than my own small immediate family in Minnesota (my dad came here from Detroit in 1941), I never met any Burnses except my grandfather, Daniel Burns (Kitty's son), and a couple of my dad's siblings (there were 14 of them). So drop me a line.
What a great surprise!!
Patrick (Pat) Burns
