Roderick & Catherine Wright of Union District SC - known children born in SC: James C. b. 1793, Lavenia b June 1798, Wiley b 7 Feb 1799, Speculate that Roderick was born between 1756 and 1774. The wife Catherine was born in 1763, may have been a second wife to Roderick. Roderick is listed in the following U.S. Census records at Union District, SC 1790 Rhoderick Wright 1 free white male 16 and upwards, 0 males under 16, 4 free white females. Living next to James Veal 2 free white males 16 and upward, 2 white males under 16 , 3 white females 1800 3 males under 10 (James C., Wiley, & ?) 1 male 26 - 44 (Roderick Wright) 2 female under 10 (Lavenia & ?) 2 female 10 - 15 (? & ?) 1 female 26 - 44 (Catherine Wright wife) The 1800 census has Roderick Wright living near: Thomas Wright, free white males: 1 under 10, 2 10-15, 1 45 & over. free white females: 4 under 10, 1 10-15, 2 16-25, 1 45 & over and 1 slave Isaac Wright, free white males: 1 under 10, 1 16-25. Free white females: 1 16-25 Delilah Wright: Free white males: 1 16-25, 1 45 & over. Free white females: 2 16-25 and 1 45 & over. 8 slaves. Roderick Wright will dated 16 Aug 1803 and recorded 29 Nov 1804 Union District, SC. Administrators of the will were the wife Catherine, James C. Veale and William Hawkins. The wife, Catherine, and children left Union District South Carolina and are later found in Daviess Co., IN living near the James C. Veale, William and Eli Hawkins families. Question what the connection was between the Wright, Veale & Hawkins families, if there was a blood connection in addition to being neighbors - possibly through Roderick's wife Catherine and/or the Right/Wright girls married to the Hawkins brothers.
