I want to thank so many of my internet cousins for your hard work and dedication in compiling an accurate family history. In 2001 my interest in the O'Shields family history led me to compile THE COLONIAL HISTORY OF THE O'SHEAL FAMILY (THE O'SHEAL RECORD). My work has been expanded by your wonderful contributions.

Anyone researching the O'Shields family in America will definitely want to contact me for an introduction to an ever-growing group of dedicated researchers and O'Shields historians, who are finding excellent connections in Osheal O'Shields genealogy. We are a large group of researchers who do love sharing and are coordinating with other researchers who act with respect and consideration. We love to honor our ancestors!

Some of the geographical areas we have researched in include England and Ireland, and continental Europe, the US seaboard states such as Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and also Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, California---actually many states, so no need to name all of them. We have researchers and contacts in all these places.

If your O'Shields ancestor served in any of the US Wars, we have probably found the record of the soldiers service.

For those tracing O'Shields in Spartanburg Co, SC you might trace back to an early O'Shields ancestor, for example Jethro O'Shields or his brother John O'Shields. We have much information on them and their descendants.

I am a descendant of Jethro Osheal, also known as Jethro O'Shields, through his daughter Elizabeth Osheal, the wife of James Hewitt.

Nowadays, with the expense of ordering pensions and other documents from the National Archives, it really helps to work and coordinate together. We have a variety of documents, and even have most or maybe ALL Spartanburg deed records available for Osheal Oshields lookups. We also have full pension records, both transcribed and copies of originals, including the pensions of Jethro Osheal O'Shields, his brother John O'Shields and other soldiers who have a connection to them. Either I or other members of our large association will be glad to share these things freely.

I do not always notice responses to my public postings, so just contact me directly at

Happy researching!
