Raglin Pearson & Mary Reece

I am researching the relatives of Peter Reese in Pendleton District (later Pickens and Oconee Counties, S.C.).

I wondered if anyone had any information about the parents of Mary Reece, wife of Raglin Pearson?

This is not my direct line - I don't have much information on the Pearson's, but I do have a great deal of information on the Reeses.

Mary Reece Pearson's maiden name comes from the North Carolina death certificate of Evans Pearson, born 11 March 1852, SC, who was the son of R. Pearson and Mary Reece.

That information matches closely enough that I believe him to be the same boy listed in the 1860 Pickens District, SC, census in the household of Raglin Pearson.

I suspect - but certainly cannot prove - that this Mary Reece was a sister of Henry Reese (listed near the Pearson family in the 1860 census.

And I also suspect that Mary and Henry also had a sister Elizabeth Reese who married Moses Butler.

We do know that Moses Butler's wife was named Elizabeth Reese, but there's not a lot of evidence that she was a sister of Henry, and none that I know of that Mary Reese was their sister.

I also suspect - but again cannot prove - that Henry, Mary and Elizabeth were children of the Barbara Reece listed in the 1840 Pickens District Census, and that Barbara was likely the widow of Levi Reece/Reese, who apparently died sometime in the 1830s.

I hasten to warm folks that this is mostly guesswork - certainly nothing to take as hard fact, based the evidence I have seen.

I'm hoping that someone who has researched the Pearson's in Pickens District (etc.) may have looked at deeds, probate records, etc. and can tell me whether those records mention anyone named Reese, or if they have seen anything else that ties these families together.

I'm descended from Jacob Reese, who appears to be a brother of Levi Reese. Jacob and Levi appear to be the sons of Peter Reese, Sr., died 1830, but again that is not 100% certain.

I would be happy to share the information I have collected on the relatives of Peter Reese with anyone who is interested. My notes are in a Word document, not a Gedcom file.

Thanks in advance for any help.
