Tami ...Here's what I found on the name "James Turner" in Pendleton Dist. (aka Pickens County) SC Let me know if any of this fits and i'll do some more diggin'....Sonia

Thomas Turner(?), James Carlile, Thomas Turin Date 25 Apr 1799 Wit James Turner, Asaph Alexander, John McMahan, D. S. States heran line 2 Aug 1799 (no oath) Rec: 17 Sep 1799.

PG 212 - pg 75 Personally came Mr. James Turner before George W. Earle J. P. and made oath to William Leslie conveyence and that Asph Alexander signed with him Date: 17 Sep 1799 (see pp 61-62)

PG 361 - pg 156 14 Jan 1805 James Brasher to Capt. James Turner for $119.89 for 210 acres granted 5 Jan 1789 by Thos. Pinckney to John Simpson on Big Generostree Creek, from Simpson conveyed to Aaron James, then back to Brasher. Wit: Aaron James, Ishom Cox, John Cox made oath to Samuel Black, J. P. 8 Apr 1805. Rec: 29 May 1805.

PG 405 - pg 392 13 Jan 1806 Capt. James Turner of Pendleton Dist., To Little Berry Roach of Greenville Co. for $119.18 for 40 acres part of 210 acres granted in 1788 by Thos Pinckney to John Simpson on Big Generostee Creek, conveyed by Simpson to Aaron James, from James to James Brasher, From Brasher to Capt. Turner. Wit: Henry Roch, Archd. Gilmer. Archd. Gilmer made oath to James Turner J. P. 13 Jan 1806 Rec 4 Aug 1806.
