I have my brick wall and his name is Joseph P. Rider. born abt 1842. I know he died after 1930 in Haywood County, NC and I can trace him back to 1880 in Cumberland County, KY. I think I have found him in 1860 in Blount County Tn with Elizabeth Rider. (whom I believe also went by Catherine)
I believe that Joseph was born in Pickens County SC. and by his age given on the varies census' he could have been born anytime from 1842 to 1848, I do not know. I believe after he was born they moved to GA for a time. Maybe Franklin County or the Dahlonegha area, then to Blount County TN (where he met his future wife) then to Cumberland County, KY, where he married her and then to Haywood County, NC where some of her family (Dyers) had settled.
