Charles Pack, 186x - 1926, m Georgia & Missouri
Posted by: Ted Pack (ID *****6680) Date: October 17, 2006 at 10:52:22
  of 1161

I have this Charles Pack, from two census entries. I may have him in a third. Two Roots Web World Connect entries have him dying in 1926, but they don't cite sources and I can't prove it otherwise.

My questions:

Is the 1900 and 1910 Charles married to Georgia the same one as the 1920 one married to Missouri?

Who were his parents and siblings?

Are either / both th eone who died in 1926?

Charles Pack

Birth       Aug 1861       South Carolina

1. Georgia A. xxxx
Marriage       1884
Children       Minnie O. Pack (Apr 1885 - )
       Zephie E. Pack (Jan 1889 - )
       Lawrence F. Pack (May 1892 - )
       Essie Lee Pack (19 Aug 1894 - 29 May 1937)
       Hosea Pack (Oct 1896 - )
       Elgie Pack (Apr 1899 - )

In 1900 the family is in Central, Pickens, South Carolina. Charles has changed his middle initial and used the name "Park" to throw his descendants off the track:

Park, Chas W, head, Aug 1861, married 16 years, SC, SC, SC, farmer
----, Georgia A, wife, Feb 1863, SC, SC, SC (As are the rest)
----, Minnie O, dau, Apr 1885
----, Zephie E, dau, Jan 1889
----, Lawrence F, son, May 1892
----, Essie L, dau, Aug 1893
----, Hosie L, son, Oct 1896
----, Elgie C, dau, Apr 1899

Everyone's race is "White"; Essie was supposed to be Cherokee, somehow.

In 1910 the family is in Central, Pickens, South Carolina:

Pack, Charlie P., head, 48, married 25 years, SC, SC, SC
----, Georgie, wife, 44, bore 10, 5 living [Ouch!], SC, SC, SC
----, Lawrence, son, 16, SC, SC, SC
----, Essie L., dau, 14, SC, SC, SC
----, Hosey, son, 13, SC, SC, SC

I found this entry in 1920, which looks like Georgia has died and Charles had married another woman named after a state:

Pack, Charlie, head, 57, SC, SC, SC
----, Missouria, wife, 45
----, Manal, [Manuel], son 12
----, Benson, son, 10
----, Marian, son, 9 [Probably Francis Marion]
----, Calvin, son, 7
----, Lawrence, son, 24

(Hurricane, Pickens, South Carolina; Roll: T625_1706; Page: 6B; Enumeration District: 162; Image: 1030.)

Arguments for, Charles' age is right and Lawrence is only 4 years off his birth year in other census entries. Arguments against, Charles is a really common name.
