Hi Carol,

Your James Cannon, husband of Mary Capehart was the son of James Cannon and wife Sarah Reed. It is my belief (unproven) that James and Sarah were my ggg grandparents. Your James Cannon/Mary Capehart was one of four children (1790 census). He was the only son and there were three sisters. Unity Cannon, married Isaac Herring and they moved to Illinois. Clarissa Cannon, married Isaac's brother, Elijah Herring. I do not know the identity of the third sister.

I strongly suspect that my great grandfather, Almon Cannon, was an illegitimate son of this third sister and his father was a man with the surname Almon. Does any of this ring a bell with you. Any help that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Doug Foster
