I am inquiring into the date of death for
Elizabeth LEWIS, d/o David LEWIS (d. 1822, SC), w/o Micajah ALEXANDER (1784-1877, SC).
Several researchers place her date of death as 04 OCT 1840. Pickens Cemetery Survey does show an E. Lewis ALEXANDER buried at Parrott Family Cemetery in Pickens Co., SC. The date of death matches. The same cemetery survey records that Micajah is also buried there. However, there is one additional ALEXANDER grave that has me questioning whether Elizabeth is the same person as E. Lewis ALEXANDER.
The survey reads:
ALEXANDER, E. Lewis, d. 4-oct-1840
ALEXANDER, E.A., d. 4-oct-1840, h. lewis
ALEXANDER, Micajah, b. 1784, d. 1877
If E.A. Alexander was the wife of Lewis, couldn’t E. Lewis be a male? I noted that E. Lewis and E. A both died on the same date.
Has anyone else puzzled over this bit of data and have an explanation or other proof to say who E. Lewis Alexander, buried at Parrot Cemetery was?
Any help is appreciated.
